Hi, I'm Frances Masters, counsellor, trainer and coach.

Let me tell you a story........
One day, many years ago, a man walked into my office, tall, smartly dressed, a professional businessman. But as he started to recount his story, he began to cry and I realised that his life was slowly unravelling due to increasingly severe panic attacks which had begun six years earlier when his father died.
His symptoms had been so severe at times that he had been admitted to A and E by ambulance for suspected heart attack, the very condition which had claimed his own father’s life.
His therapeutic goal for that first week was to just get through 24 hours without having a panic attack. When he returned the following week he advised he had not had one single attack during the whole week.

He was shocked and delighted that the therapy had been so effective so quickly. Back then, when I had first started using these powerful brief therapy interventions, I was also a little surprised.
These days I am surprised if they do not...
